MikroTik field tools
Small, self-hosted tools I build for my own field work and publish here. Everything runs in your browser; nothing leaves the page.
Headline project
Glossema
The RouterOS 7 grammar plugin for VS Code
Glossema checks RouterOS scripts as you type. It flags invalid commands and values and completes parameters and interface names. Hover over a command to read its RouterOS help. It runs offline, with no account and no telemetry. Closed beta for macOS, Windows and Linux.
Visit glossema.devFrom the same lab: the RouterOS beeper player — paste a :beep script and hear it before your router does.
Every tool on the bench below started as the live demo on one of my expertise pages, then got a page of its own so it's easy to keep or send. See the expertise behind them.
Visual explainers
Each one draws something a network does out of sight. Pick a case and watch it play out.
- Routing expertise
Recursive failover simulator
- See
- Two uplinks and two probes watching them.
- Learn
- Why failover never fires when the ISP gateway still answers ping.
- Firewall expertise
Interactive packet-flow diagram
- See
- One packet crossing each stage of the forward path.
- Learn
- Where a rule belongs, judged by what a drop there costs.
- Security expertise
Diffie-Hellman key-exchange visualizer
- See
- Two sides agree a secret colour while you record what they send.
- Learn
- Why the recording can't reach the secret, and what forward secrecy protects.
Field utilities
Set up your own board or network, then send the link to whoever needs it.
- Fundamentals expertise
RouterBOARD reset simulator
Practice the RouterBOARD reset hold on six simulated archetypes — release on the LED transition, not a stopwatch. Includes the traps that stall real resets.
Open the simulator → - Addressing expertise
Visual subnet calculator
Drag one cut across a single network and watch it split into named subnets. Then open the bit math underneath to see which bits count subnets and which count hosts.

Five tools on the bench. More are coming — each ships when it holds up in the field.
